Short answer

What is the Google Workspace Status Dashboard?

The Google Workspace Status Dashboard is the page where Google reports whether Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Docs and its other services are running normally or having an incident. It shows each service's status for the last few days, the time of the last update and the incident history.

When there is an incident, click the icon for that day: the details open with the updates Google keeps posting.

What each icon means

  • Available

    The service is working normally.

  • Service information

Google posted a notice about that service. Open the details to see what it is about.

  • Service disruption

Some users have problems using it and Google is investigating.

  • Service outage

The service is not available. Google is working to restore it.

What to do

If something fails, start here

Check the dashboard first. The path depends on what it shows.

It's on Google's side

The dashboard shows an incident

  1. Confirm it is the service you are using and that the incident is ongoing.
  2. Do not change passwords or reinstall anything: it will not fix it.
  3. Tell your team so nobody wastes time restarting devices or opening tickets.
  4. Keep going with what does work: a phone call instead of a video call, another channel for urgent notices.
  5. Check the dashboard again from time to time: Google keeps adding updates until it is resolved.

It may be on your side

The dashboard is green and it still does not work for you

  1. Try an incognito window or another browser.
  2. Try with your phone's mobile data. If it works there, the problem is your network.
  3. Try with someone else at your company. If it fails for only one person, it is their account or their device.
  4. Check that the device's date and time are right and that no extension or antivirus is blocking access.
  5. If it fails for the whole company and it is not Google, it may be the network, DNS, the firewall or an account policy. It is worth having someone from IT support look at it.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most about Google Workspace status.

How do I know if Gmail or Google Drive is down?

Check the dashboard on this page. If the service shows the disruption or outage icon today, Google has an incident. If it shows as available and it still does not work for you, try another network or someone else at your company to see whether the problem is on your side.

Is this the official Google dashboard?

Yes. Google publishes the dashboard and it is shown as-is, with no changes to the data. We embed it on this page so you have it at hand. TheNocGroup is not part of Google.

How often does it update?

Google updates it as it detects and confirms incidents. The time of the last update appears above the dashboard, and the Refresh button reloads the data.

What does "Service information" mean?

It is a notice Google posts about a service. It can be a limited issue or an announcement. Click the icon to read the details and see whether it affects you.

Where can I see past incidents?

In the same dashboard, with the "View incident history" link. It lists past incidents for each service.

Can I get notified when there is an incident?

Google publishes a feed of the dashboard that you can add to a feed reader. You will find it in the link below the dashboard.

The dashboard is green but it does not work for me. What do I do?

Try an incognito window, your phone's mobile data and someone else at your company. If it fails only on your network or only for one person, the problem is not Google's.

Why does Google Workspace fail only at my company?

It can be the internet connection, DNS, the firewall, an account policy or a device with problems. If it happens often, it is worth having IT support look into it.
